We got a call from the fertility clinic today, and they have convinced the Health Department that we should have another fully funded (free) attempt at IVF. I don't know how to feel about it. I was starting to come to terms with not having a biological child, but now this wave of hope is there. I don't know if that is a good thing or not.
I have an appointment booked with the fertility specialist in February, and I'll also book in to see the Scientific Director to discuss the embryo development. I'm starting a healthy eating and exercise regime, and I'm considering some supplements which look interesting.
All the best....
ReplyDeleteHave you considered taking Melatonin and Ubiqinol.(COQ2) I've read/heard many good things about these supplements.
Acupuncture? Chinese meds? Bowen therapy? I did as we were lowest of lows and didn't have anything to lose! And I worked with the ivf clinic!!!
ReplyDeleteSo, I am miss Yay Modern Western Medicine!, but…my husband took Proxeed for several months before we did IVF, and we noticed an improvement in his sperm quality. (Ultimate test: We transferred two embryos and ended up with twins, plus some to freeze.)
ReplyDeleteProxeed seems to be available in Australia: http://www.fishpond.com.au/c/Health/q/Proxeed+Plus
Figure you don't have anything to lose, right? :)
I also took the "CCRM cocktail" : Inositol 2gm twice a day, CoEnzyme Q10 200mg twice a day, melatonin 3mg at night . You have to stop this when you start your fertility meds, as it will throw off your estrogen readings, but we had a great response egg-wise despite our official diagnosis being DOR (real diagnosis: old eggs).
Good luck!
I'm excited you get another shot!! And for free. What a blessing. But I understand being pulled back in when you have started to come to terms with a door being closed. I hope you can find peace as you purse this option.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you guys will have another funded cycle. Hope has not left the building.
ReplyDeleteI went all out with double dose CoQ10 and DHEA (on script) and acupuncture and if I needed to do it again if also add in Folinic Acid/Methylfolate because I realise that Folic Acid is not good for anyone with the MTHFR mutation (have you been tested? Sorry to bombard but it might be worth checking out?)
All my love Bec. I'm always barracking for you guys x
